The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing property management accounting for a portfolio of low-income apartment buildings, ensuring financial integrity, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective communication with stakeholders. Key responsibilities include overseeing general ledger maintenance, cash flow management, financial reporting, grant billing, regulatory compliance, audit preparation, and policy adherence. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices, excel in analytical and communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. Plymouth Housing is a nonprofit organization that develops and operates permanent supportive housing for single adults who have experienced chronic homelessness. With apartment buildings throughout King County, Plymouth is helping the most vulnerable members of our community leave homelessness behind forever. At Plymouth, we're not simply trying to get people off the streets. We provide supportive services like case management and health care so that our residents can thrive long-term. As part of our strategic vision, we are building internal behavioral health services and transforming our systems to address rapid growth and the changing needs of residents.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE DOING IN THIS ROLE AT PLYMOUTH HOUSING

  • Manage all facets of property management accounting for an assigned building portfolio.
  • Oversee cash flow for operating and reserve bank accounts, ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Timely prepare accurate monthly grant invoicing and maintain grant information tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.
  • Assist with annual financial audit preparation and provide documentation to auditors.
  • Adhere to agency policies, accounting best practices, and internal control procedures.
  • Develop leadership skills through proactive problem-solving and collaboration with colleagues.

SOME REQUIREMENTS WE WILL NEED FROM YOU

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of accounting and financial analysis experience.
  • Basic proficiency in Outlook, Adobe Acrobat DC, MS Word, MS Teams, and Zoom.
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting, grants, and public funding preferred.
  • Experience with MIP Fund Accounting software desired.
  • Knowledge of low-income housing development and property management accounting a plus.
  • Experience in payroll preparation and payroll tax reporting a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
