Job Description

STV Inc., is looking for a Full-Time engineer IV in ourRichmond, VA in ourTransportation division. The StructuralEngineer will collaborate with and work with a team of engineers designing and producing a variety of road, rail, and transit design projects, including preparing proposal support, renderings, drawings, details, material selection, and assisting in developing plans, specifications, reports, coordinating with manufacturers, site reconnaissance and contributing to project management, scheduling and planning. Along with bridge design, you will review design plans and submittals for public infrastructure projects. This position may also involve coordinating and overseeing the work of junior-level design staff on the project team.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Design calculations for new and existing bridges, retaining walls, culverts and other structures related to transportation

  • Perform bridge load ratings (LRFD)

  • Creating construction documents, including drawings and specifications

  • Other design opportunities

  • Although the working condition for this position is primarily a professional office position, the position may at times be required to assist in fieldwork. The physical requirements and working conditions for the field work are as follows:

    • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and environments.

    • Other physical requirements - squatting, kneeling, climbing, walking certain distances.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required

  • Minimum of8 years of structural design experience preferred

  • PE licensure in VA

  • Knowledge of VDOT Bridge Design practices required

  • Experience designing highway, pedestrian, and/or rail bridges and other structures

  • Familiarity with ProjectWise, Microsoft Products, OpenBridge Designer, LEAP Bridge, and/or other commonly used structural design software packages is required

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work on a team and communicate with clients

Compensation Range:

$99,966.00 - $133,287.00
