The McKesson Cell, Gene, and Advanced Therapies business is at the forefront of healthcare innovation, specializing in the development of services which support groundbreaking therapies that are revolutionizing patient care. We seek a strategic and visionary Director of Partnerships to join our team, driving growth through external collaborations and shaping our division's ecosystem partnership plan and strategic direction.

Reporting directly to the Head of Cell Gene and Advanced Therapies, the Director of Partnerships plays a pivotal role in forging growth and innovation through strategic alliances, partnerships, and transformative deals to support the CGAT value chain. This position combines corporate development competencies, alliance management with forward-thinking leadership to drive our division's strategic partnership plan and execution. Collaborating cross-functionally, the incumbent will identify opportunities, assess partnerships, and execute deals in alignment with our division's goals. The successful candidate will excel within small team environments, demonstrate a proactive willingness to contribute immediately, and adopt a hands-on approach to ensure collective achievement.

Key Responsibilities

In partnership with the CGAT leadership team, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Strategic Visioning: Develop and communicate a comprehensive partnership plan and roadmap for the division, integrating market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies. Shape innovative strategies that propel the division's mission.
  • Partnership Identification: Proactively identify and evaluate partnership opportunities that align with the division's strategic objectives. Conduct thorough due diligence, financial analyses, and negotiate partnership terms.
  • Business Case Development: Create compelling business cases, articulating the value proposition, risks, and strategic benefits of proposed partnerships. Present recommendations succinctly and persuasively.
  • Deal Execution: Support negotiation and deal structuring with external partners, securing favorable terms and ensuring alignment with divisional goals. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to drive successful execution.
  • Industry Insight: Stay attuned to industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities within the Cell and Gene space, incorporating these insights into the division's strategic roadmap and partnership initiatives.
  • Cell and Gene Therapeutics and Services Expertise: Leverage deep CGT and services knowledge to contribute thought leadership and strategic input that accelerates the division's growth.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to others, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture within the Cell, Gene, and Advanced Therapies team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in healthcare and 5 year's experience in Cell and Gene and Alliance management or CGT services experience.
Additional Skills:
  • Demonstrated expertise in healthcare and life sciences, particularly in areas related to Cell and Gene therapies or similar domains.
  • Forward-thinking entrepreneurial mindset, capable of identifying opportunities, taking initiative, and driving innovative solutions within a dynamic team environment.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to contribute to the formation of long-term strategies, guiding the organization toward successful outcomes.
  • Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, adept at managing multiple priorities and initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills, leading cross-functional teams and initiatives to successful completion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial modeling tools.
  • Ability to travel between 25-30% travel.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$105,000 - $175,000
