Aerospace Estimator and Quote Specialist

Reports to: Business Development Manager
Location: Kent, WA
Type: Exempt, Full-Time
Schedule: 100% Onsite Monday - Friday - 7:00 A.M to 3:00PM or flex to 7:45AM to 4:15 P.M.

Role overview

This high-visibility, high-volume, fast-paced position will be responsible for all aspects of quoting and estimating customer part processing finish needs, working within the Sales Team. This includes assessing processing capabilities, material and labor costs, equipment and tooling requirements, risk, and any additional expenses related to the quote/project. This position will collaborate with customer service, sales, production, manufacturing engineers, and finance. The Estimator will be the main contact person for customers needing assistance with quotes, and questions regarding estimates.

The Aerospace Quoting and Estimating Specialist will have a critical role in ensuring that quotes and projects are financially viable and that estimates align with the company's objectives and profitability goals.

Salary range based upon the required profile: $72,000 - $85,000. *Plus, participation with Hytek's profit sharing plan through quarterly bonuses.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Gather required data for aerospace surface finishing quote preparation, data entry of new quotes, and contact vendors for job quotes.
  • Work directly with Hytek partners and clients to determine project scope, specifications, requirements, and perform calculations.
  • Keep current of new services, trends, market cost, and pricing.
  • Follow up on customer quotes and contacts vendors for material costs.
  • Coordinate with vendors to ensure that pricing data is received in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the resolution of all pricing related issues.
  • Review customer specifications, including sketches, blueprints, bills of material, and/or customer schematics.
  • Assess cost-effectiveness of projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Sends completed quotes to the internal stakeholders and/or customer based on RFQ requirements.
  • Confer with stakeholders, customers, supply chain vendors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Completes Project Work - Using and Maintaining internal systems, and/or utilizing PowerBI skills to update, track, and manage RFQ projects.
  • Understanding of ITAR compliance and proper handling of ITAR related documents.

Your boarding pass/qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in Estimating and Quoting within Manufacturing, Production, and/or Metal Finishing Industry a plus. Would consider college internships as work experiences so long as capstone projects or internships pertains to quoting/estimating, customer service and/or sales with RFQ process workflow.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand engineering documents (drawings, specifications, blueprints, etc.), aerospace industry preferred.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office products as well as ERP system experience is desired, Syteline and PowerBI experience preferred.
  • Leadership training is a plus.
  • Must be able authorized to work in the U.S. An export license will be required to work in all areas of the facility.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Essential Mental/Physical Demands

Ability to sit in an office environment for long periods. Extensive use of hands in writing, computer, and other office equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
